Do not just state a fact to convey an idea, for example: “I like to surround myself with people of different backgrounds and interests.” Include specific details, examples, reasons, and so on to develop your ideas. Keep your focus narrow and personal
Do not try to cover too many topics. This will make the essay look like a resume in which there are no details about you. Despite the fact that this is an excellent exercise, many students allow themselves to influence the examples too much and use a lot of clichés to impress the admissions committee. Remember that thousands of other students are applying to your university and you need to excel. Reread your essay, delete all sentences that sound like cliches, and try to find a more original angle of view.
